What a County does
Some Areas have well-established County Tournaments offering masters’ hockey at intermediate age groups e.g. in the East at Men’s O40’s and O50’s and Women’s O40’s. These events not only increase the level of participation in masters’ hockey across the areas but also allows players an opportunity to play at a higher level than that which they would normally play and alongside like-minded individuals within their own and adjacent peer groups. Once more player data is available from GMS we will investigate extending the number of age groups invited to play at County level.
These County Tournaments are also used as a trialling ground for further advancement into representative hockey at the Area level and possibly higher still.
Hockey at County level can be accurately described as being friendly hockey with a competitive edge where all appreciate the finer skills of the game and all like and want to win, but not at all costs!
