England over 65s’ travelled to Cork

England over 65s’ travelled to Cork, Ireland to defend their title which they have won since the inception of such tournament.
It was a successful tournament in more than one. Irish hospitality, great weather, and satisfactory results. There were five new players from last year and the transition was seamless.

In the first game on Friday,  we played Ireland who packed their defence but could not hold on and their defence eventually succumb to barrage of attacks and were defeated 2-0. We played Wales next. They were no match for our fast moving forward and mobile midfield. They had little answer and were beaten 5-0. On Sunday, on unearthly hour of 9.30 a.m, we played the Scots. To our surprise they were on the pitch going through their ‘warm up routine’ under watchful eye of their coach whilst we just ambled in. It did take us long that Scots were serious and were for the game. We then got out act together and just had 10 minutes to get ourselves in some sort of order. But as soon as the game started, we went into ‘top gear’. Within minutes got our opening goal. We did not stop there and eventually put 7 passed the Scots.

Total goals scored 14 and conceded none. Perfect start to built up to defend our European title in August in Germany.
